Accurate Installation, Inc. – 2022
Dave at Accurate Installations, Inc. needed a website that was accessible in search, easy to use, and had plenty of ways to contact the office. They are a warehouse racking and storage installation company that services Southern California.
My main challenge with this project was creating a timeline that made sense on Dave’s budget. There was some heavy lifting to be done. I needed to create an entire branding system for Accurate as well as research their target market, main competitors, and the regions with the most need for this type of storage racking. I had my work cut out for me.
I started with the logo and color scheme. After looking at the competitors logos, and the color scheme of the standard racks that Accurate Installations installs; I went with Green, Orange, and Yellow, accented by white. These are pretty standard colors in the warehouse rack trade and can help to identify what Accurate Installations does based on color. For logo mark itself I decided to create a rack like effect with skewed typeface (COLT) held together by rack ends. The orange disc/sun represents the setting sun, the end of a day, and a job well job. The idea was to create motion, symbolizing the work that is to be done and to be completed.
I lucked out and my logo design, color scheme, and typeface choices were all met with immediate approval. For the websites main typeface. I wanted something bold, that stood out, and matched the general aesthetic of the logo I had designed. Using typefaces supplied by Google can be tricky, but Holtwood fit the bill and looks great.
Filling in page content is no fun but with a small business website you really only have a few pages to worry about. This website relies on forms for several of the pages, a general contact form, a request a quote form, and an employment application form. Making sure your web forms are easy to use, land in the right inbox, and don’t land in your SPAM folder is vital. As I said, customer contact is the most important function of this website, and we nailed it down for them.
The design and implementation process of web development is often the quickest for me, after 20 years building websites the ideas become reality quickly. I find that spending any extra time fine possible tuning customer interaction, dialing in page speed, and ensuring everything gets indexed with Google is time well spent.
