Follow these 5 tips for success with Analytics
I have picked up a few Google Analytics Tips during my 20 hours of Google Skillshop training and certification.
KPI is an important acronym; it stands for Key Performance Indicator; these will vary slightly depending on what you are trying to accomplish, the industry you are in, and who you are targeting.
Planning is important when collecting data for analysis; what are you trying to understand? For example, are you collecting emails for a list? Do you want people to call your business? Are you selling an e-book? These are the types of questions you should have answered when you first built your website.
On to the tips.
- KNOW WHAT YOUR MEASURING AND WHY, ie.
You should focus on KPI’s, not just traffic. - COMPARE WITH YOUR PAST PERFORMANCE,
last year, last month, even yesterday. - MEASURE CONVERSIONS WITH GOALS, your conversion rate is the most important KPI.
- USE SECONDARY DIMENSION TO COMPARE
DATA, cross-reference your data with different data points. - USE FILTERS TO EXCLUDE YOUR HOME AND
OFFICE IP’S, no need to track your office.
